You might just be chasing your dreams wrong...

I had an incredible realization earlier today when thinking about the concept of Dreams and how we all find ourselves chasing them. For some, they look like wealth, for others they look like career milestones or a certain reflection in the mirror. And for YEARS I thought the same thing… But I’ve realized, we’ve got it all wrong.
This entire concept of CHASING your dreams as if once you accomplish that said goal you’ll be complete, is entirely incorrect and a trap at that.
Is accomplishing your goals important? Of course! But it will not bring you the fulfillment you’re expecting while chasing your dreams. Because in the end, tt’s about the PERSON who made it possible to get you there. It’s about the person you have become to bring you to that point.
I’ve said it many times over, to my friends, my family and my clients… Your dreams will haunt you until you finally embrace them wholeheartedly with welcoming acceptance and faith that they are worthy of letting in, and you are worthy of having them.
There’s a reason why you feel jealous or maybe even angry about that person with the shiny new car, or the happy couple sitting across the room, or the family across the street with the beautiful home. There’s something within you telling you that you should be them. YOU should have that car. YOU should have that happy relationship. YOU should have a beautiful home.
Believe it or not, these are your dreams trying to communicate with you. There’s that little voice again, saying you’re destined for more, but the self-imposed limits of “I’m not good enough…Im not rich enough… I’m too busy… I’m too ugly” mask that beautiful voice from the dream of yours.
Now, do we chase those dreams? No. You welcome them. You accept them. You tune out any and all self-doubts and hateful comments from others that try, oh and they WILL try, to shut them down. Your goals are absolutely critical to achieving your dreams, but what’s more important than that is identifying and working towards becoming the person that’s capable of achieving them.
For example, if you wish to save $200 this month, ask what kind of person is capable of doing such. What does that sort of person, with that great capability, do on the daily/weekly basis to save money? What are some of their strengths? What do you genuinely admire about that person? What can YOU do to act out the very things you admire?
Here’s the thing my friend, you are 100% capable of achieving the most incredible things in your life. But before you go off chasing them, you need to fall in love with the person within you that will achieve them first.
Try this cool trick I learned from Mel Robbins.
For ONE week, every morning, write down FIVE THINGS you want. They could be the most grandiose dreams, or they could be the simplest changes in your life. It’s time to get out of that damn box you’ve put yourself in, and get into the HABIT of giving yourself the permission to dream.
I hope this brought some love and light to you today. I believe in you.

OT
